 Dr. Dorle Hellmuth, Politics

 

Dr. Dorle Hellmuth is Assistant Professor of Politics. At CUA, she teaches courses on European Politics, Comparative Politics, Transatlantic Security, Homeland Security, and Counterterrorism.

Dr. Hellmuth's research covers World Politics, particularly the study of counterterrorism reforms in the United States and Europe, as well as nuclear non-proliferation. Her most recent research focuses on how to best counter radicalization in German and U.S. Muslim communities.

She has co-published articles and book chapters in Democracy and Security, The Nonproliferation Review, and Beyond Sovereignty. Her publications also include policy papers published by the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies in Washington, D.C. where she is a Non-Resident Fellow. Dr. Hellmuth has held appointments as Assistant Professor at American University’s School of International Service, and as a Research Fellow at the National War College, National Defense University. She is currently completing a book manuscript on the effects of government structures in shaping counter-terrorism policies in Germany, the United States, Great Britain, and France.
